Unofficial World Record!
For your info this WR application to IGFA was not accepted due to the fact that my custom rod had a moveable reel seat which can slide up and down the handle and IGFA were not convinced that the reel was not more than 6 inches from the butt – a requirement in their rules… So even though I did land the fish and had two witnesses onboard, its back to the drawing board… next time I need to make sure the real seat is fixed… more on this on the magazine articles page.
Below Capt Dave with his pending IGFA WORLD RECORD fly rod caught yellowfin tuna on 10kg tippet, the yellowfin weighed in at 51.58kgs beating the previous record of 48.6kgs. Fight lasted 1 hour 42 minutes. Well Done Capt. Dave
