Extreme fly fishing charter

Bret and Ron hired us for an Extreme Fly Fishing Charter. We hooked up on our first yellowfin on fly only a few minutes after starting to fish. We wanted to hook up early so as to have enough time to have a chance at landing two yellowfin on fly in one day. Bret fought the first fish for almost an hour before we boated it. What a beauty weighing in at 48.6 kgs! Well done Bret ! Next it was Ron’s turn and it was not long before Ron hooked up and now had his turn. Ron also managed to boat his fish in just over an hour and it weighed in at 46.8 kgs. Congrats Ron on an excellent catch. With two rather tired fly fishermen we put the conventional rods in the water and landed 3 more yellowfin. Then it was time for lines up and our run back inshore.

Offshore tuna fishing experience

Seven clients joined us for an offshore tuna fishing experience. Inshore the water was very cold and green – a result of the strong south easterly winds that blew for the past few days. Our experienced skipper, Dave still managed to find a patch of warm water and yellowfin tuna. We had the first reel screaming in protest as the first yellowfin took the bait, only minutes after putting the first line in. Seconds later the second reel went off. This set the scene for the rest of the day with non stop action. We called lines up when everyone had caught enough fish and no one was feeling up to tackling another one of these brutes. Our largest fish weighted in at 73.7 kgs! What a fantastic days fishing!A comment from one of our clients, Jeremy.

“Hi Dave
What an awesome day yesterday! Thank you so much for a very memorable day catching tunny. We really must complement you and Alistair on providing a great boat and an unforgetable experience. Both Pete and I felt safe that we were in the hands of someone who was knowledgable, not only about fishing, but also about the other marine and bird life. You guys worked your guts out and made for a day that will stick in our mind for years to come.We will certainly recommend you to all our friends and we look forward to going with you on an inshore trip for some yellow tail and snoek on fly!
I really would appreciate if you could send me the photos, either by email or if its easier,I could pick up a CD from you? I will send them on to Peter. Those photos are definately going up on the wall.
Once again, thanks for a stunning day at sea.
Best regards
Jeremy. ”
